"SICK"

I've been sick now for about two weeks! The Flu of some sorts, two weeks now. In here when a virus hits we all get it. I mean, we are in such close quarters that there is no escaping it. So when I say we are all sick, I mean ALL of us. Sad part is, contrary to popular belief these virus's circulate and recirculate around and around and so some of us get it multiple times. I mean, we all use the same old fashioned hand-held phones, with no way to actually sanitize them after someone else has used it. We all use the same keyboards on the computers, we all touch the same doorknobs, the same walls, showers and so on. When a flu bug gets in here, it's here to stay for the duration.

It is about two hundred meters from my cell-block to the Chow Hall; my cell-block is the closest of the four to the Chow Hall. The other day it was misting outside, chilly and wet. I, we, were already sick as hell and this one Guard made us walk the long way around, about four hundred meters, to get back to our Cell Blocks. By the time I got to my Block, my head was cold and wet and I never recovered. I caught a fever and spent the next two days in bed. What? ... No, no. I wasn't cursing at her from my bunk ... well, maybe a little, but give me a break. It was a very immature thing for her to do under the circumstances. And yes, they know we're all sick, they know we're all hacking and coughing. Oh alright, I'll apologize to her here and now. Sooorry, ma'am... What? That didn't sound sincere? Oh well, what can I say.

No, I have not gone to seek Medical help. Yes, they do a good job here, but I'm one of those guys who avoids Doctors like the Pope avoids a boys camp. Plus, I don't really think that there's much they can do for a common cold; drink water and get lots of rest. I know to do this. I will admit that last year in Hazelton, West Virginia, I got real sick and could not shake it. I did go to the Doctor and she gave me some kind of Antibiotics combined with some other stuff and it worked! Two days later I was fine ... But that was an extreme case but, I try not to take pills of any kind. So, unless I'm dying, or think I might die, I ain't goin' to no Doctor. "We Don't Need No Stinking Doctors" if you have to ask about that paraphrase, you've never seen the movie, lol.

Anyway. The point of all this is, I am doing much better today. Thank you.
