Jose Royo
My favorite painters are ....Rembrandt, Greg Kruetz, Ron Hicks and Jose Royo; Royo is my absolute favorite painter, ever, in the history of art!
I love his work, his use of color and impasto, I would trade my left *** to have the chance to meet him; to spend thirty days watching him paint. He is the epitome of the term, Master. What Jose Royo does with his art is beyond carnal interest, it is amazing ... as I said, if I could spend 30 days just watching and learning from ANY painter, past or present, it would be him. I cannot tell you how good he is, words do not do him justice.
The first time I saw his work was in the early two-thousands, when I was just starting to paint; a gallery was advertising some of his paintings in a magazine and had a full page picture of this woman holding a baby AND another one of this young girl looking shyly at the viewer with a green forest background all amazing, but what makes that picture beyond beautiful is the way that "El Maestro" painted her dress!! OH, my God! When I saw that picture I was blown away! I had never seen anything so beautiful in my life. Unbelievable. I vowed then and there to try and learn how to paint like him ... but alas, he is after all, Gods gift to paint, and I fall VERY short ... very, very short. But I try and still endeavor to immolate him; just don't know how he sees what he sees, much less how he can make paint so luminous.
The painting you see at the beginning of this story is one of my attempts to learn from looking and trying to copy his work. Truth be told, if I say so myself, it is pretty good, for a tribute piece. But it ain't a Jose Royo, just a knock off.

My daughter also loves art and when I, all those years ago, told her about your work, she immediately went out and bought two of your original paintings!; they are hanging in her house as we speak (I have enclosed pictures of those paintings for my viewers to see). I am so proud to say that my family has some of your creations. Maestro ... it is with great respect that I show my work/your work.
