Mother with three Children
This drawing is of course my rendition of a very famous depression era photo by Dorethea Lange, taken in 1936. When I first saw this photograph in a magazine I was taken aback. It captures not only a moment in history but a moment in the life of a mother and her children. The thing that attracted me to it are the looks on the children's faces, that, and well ... how they were clinging to their mother in what can easily be seen as very hard times. It's human nature to know that you can always count on your mother. Mothers, the greatest among us.
This picture was done with a ball-point pen, dots ... possibly a million dots, or so it seemed at the time, lol. This type of art, ball-point pen is rarely if ever done with dots; me, I wanted to do something that no one else is doing. And I have to tell you that even though I put my best into every piece I do, as far as quality goes, this piece is one of the finest pieces I have ever completed. Hope you enjoyed it.
